Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we?

Since 2008 older youth have been using the Ruhi Institute materials to learn how to serve the younger generation. In addition to materials that train older youth in the development of attitudes, qualities, and skills helpful in service to the younger generation, the Ruhi Institute has assisted in the development of texts that junior youth can study to develop language skills and powers of expression. The texts cover a range of topics and questions, from friendship, time management, and personal organization to mathematical reasoning and scientific observation, and are grounded in stories inspired by young people from around the world. The moral concepts in the materials are drawn from Baha’i teachings, and are designed in such a way as to touch on universal themes enriching to junior youth from all religious and cultural backgrounds.

Who sponsors the programs?

The programs are sponsored by the Baha’i Institute Board of Ontario. Please click here for more information about its activities.

Where do the groups meet?

The junior youth groups meet in local public schools including Robert Service Senior Public School and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.

I don’t live in the neighbourhood. Can I still participate?

Certainly. If it’s possible/easy for you to come to either neighbourhood, you’re welcome to join. However, the programs are run across Toronto, so please let us know if you don’t live in either neighbourhood and we can see if there is another neighbourhood that is closer to you with activities going on.

Does it cost?

There is no fee for the regular group space. When there is a camp, participants are asked to contribute a nominal fee to cover materials and food expenses, but arrangements can always be made to support junior youth for whom this would be an obstacle.

Who can participate?

The programs are targeted at specific age groups, but if you have an interest in some way participating and don’t fit within any of the ranges, still reach out - everyone can contribute in some way!
